Local photographer Ian Ferreira was blessed to be in close proximity to what appeared to be a reuniting of siblings, Sept.18th 2019. These young adult bears embraced & battled for 4 hrs that evening and again in the morning fog before separating.

Great Bald Eagle

The bald eagle is an opportunistic feeder which subsists mainly on fish, which it swoops down and snatches from the water with its talons. It builds the largest nest of any North American bird and the largest tree nests ever recorded for any animal species. Image captured Feb. 26th 2019 by Island Naturalist Ian Ferreira.

Lovekin Rock

December 22nd 2019. Local photographer Ian Ferreira captured this early morning artistic shot of Lovekin Rock at Long Beach Tofino. Before Pacific Rim National Park Reserve was created in 1970 a family named Lovekin called this spectacular place home. It is now the epicenter of the surfing culture in Canada.

Stellar's Jay
